How did you learn fly fishing?

About 15 years ago, my friend told me how fun fly fishing is. I was into lure fishing and had been fishing for black bass at that time. Gradually I became interested in fly fishing. I felt that fly fishing is much more elegant, smarter than lure fishing.

I visited small fly fishing shop and got equipment. There were some guys who already had been into fly fishing. One of them is Mr. Kato. They became not only my friends in fishing, but also my teachers.

In the beginning fly fishing was soooo difficult. In my first fishing trip, my fly line got twined around tree branch so many times. And fly fishing is difficult for me still now. Especially casting is.

What’s so special about it?

The most interesting point about fly fishing is difficulty, I think.  And the more I enjoyed fishing, the difficulty is actually getting higher.

I often visit Toyama, Hokkaido, Nara, and Shiga in Japan, to enjoy and feel difficulty of fly fishing.

I think that fly fishing is so fun because it is challenging.
